Zakk is a wild two-and-a-half year-old who likes to keep his parents on their toes! Dad and Mom found out that he was going to be born with Spina Bifida when they went in for an ultrasound while Mom was still pregnant. They spent the next few months getting ready for their special arrival knowing he would need some extra care after he was born.

His arrival was accompanied with some extra diagnosises and a lengthy NICU stay. Countless doctors and nurses who worked hard to get him strong enough to come home with Dad and Mom. Because of the time he spent on a ventilator and being unable to eat without a feeeding tube, he unfortunately lost his sucking reflex and began gagging on any food that got into his mouth.

Dad and Mom have been working hard to make some progress on his eating skills, spending time everyday working on it, and driving an hour and a half round trip weekly to see an Occupaitonal Therapitst for feeding therapy. While at therapy, they suggested a supportive feeding chair like they were using with him. Wanting to give him the best environment to learn, we attempted to submit the request to his insurance. Since Zakk just got his wheelchair, they denied the request and will not be able to pay for this special chair.
